mediate preservation of the public health and safety, and hav-
ing been passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

CHAPTER 497.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
206 and 207 of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Charles County", sub-
title "Liquor and Intoxicating Liquors", as said sections
were enacted by Chapter 127 of the Acts of 1935, increasing
the license fee for the sale of beer and spirituous and fer-
mented liquors in Charles County, prescribing certain regu-
lations relative to the sale of alcoholic beverages, and pro-
viding for the disposition of the receipts from said licenses.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted 6iy the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 206 and'207 of Article 9 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Charles
County", sub-title "Liquor and Intoxicating Liquors", as
said sections were enacted by Chapter 127 of the Acts of 1935,
be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
206. The applicant for a license to sell spirituous or fer-
mented liquors of any kind whatsoever, shall pay to the
Clerk of the Circuit Court upon the issuing of such license
the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150) for one year or
such pro rata part of said sum for a shorter period; provided,
however, that the applicant for a license to sell beer only
either off or on sale shall pay to the Clerk of the Circuit
Court upon issuing of such license, the sum of Thirty-five
Dollars ($35) for a wholesale or distributor's license and the
sum of Seventy-five Dollars ($75) for a retail license for one
year or such pro rata part of said sum for a shorter period.
And any licensee who shall take out said license shall have
the right to sell beer and wine for consumption on or off the
premises and spirituous liquors for consumption off the prem-
ises and in the original containers only. Provided, however,
that an applicant to sell spirituous or fermented liquors for
consumption on or off the premises shall pay to the Clerk of
the Circuit Court the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars
($250) for one year or such pro rata part of said sum for
