SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 470.
(House Bill 810)
AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners
of Anne Arundel County to appropriate sufficient sums of
money from the general surplus funds of the County for the
purpose of paying any increased salaries to county em-
ployees authorized by the 1947 General Assembly.
SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County be and they are hereby directed, notwithstanding any
provision in the County Budget law to the contrary, to appro-
priate such sum or sums of money from the general surplus
funds of the County and pay any salary increases to those
County employees whose salaries were increased by the
General Assembly of Maryland at its 1947 Session.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 471.
(House Bill 811)
AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 259 of Article
81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "Retail Sales Act", as said
Section 259 was enacted by Chapter 281 of the Acts of
1947, said new sub-section to be known as Sub-section (ha)
and to follow immediately after Sub-section (h) of said
Section 259, providing that the term "food" shall be con-
strued to include "ice" when used for household consump-
tion.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added to
