490 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 306

"Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrates System",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

100. (Wicomico County.) There shall be one Trial Magis-
trate who shall sit at Salisbury and shall receive an annual
salary of Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00), the said
Trial Magistrate so appointed to be known as the Judge of
the People's Court.

There shall be appointed biennially by the Judge of
the People's Court a Clerk who shall keep all dockets of
and supervise and manage the Office of the People's Court
of said county and said Clerk shall perform such other duties
as shall be properly assigned to him by the said Judge and he
shall receive an annual salary of the sum of not less than
Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) to be paid him in twelve
equal monthly installments by the County Commissioners of
Wicomico County and may be increased at any time by the
said County Commissioners from county funds; the said Clerk
before entering upon his duties shall give bond to the State of
Maryland in the penalty of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00)
with corporate surety satisfactory to said County Commis-
sioners, the premium of said bond to be paid by the County
Commissioners of Wicomico County.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

(House Bill 527)

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners
of Allegany County to offer certain public lands for sale for
home building sites and to, give war veterans preference in
purchasing same.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Allegany County be
