were amended by Chapter 400 of the Acts of 1943, pro-
viding that the Judges of the Fourth Judicial Circuit here-
after fix the compensation of the Court Stenographers in
said Circuit.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 73 and 74 of Article 1 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Alle-
gany County", sub-title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court
Stenographer", as said Sections 73 and 74 were amended by
Chapter 400 of the Acts of 1943, Sections 67 and 68 of Ar-
ticle 12 of said Code, title "Garrett County", sub-title "Cir-
cuit Court", sub-heading "Court Stenographer", as said Sec-
tions 67 and 68 were amended by Chapter 400 of the Acts
of 1943, and Sections 110 and 111 of Article 22 of 'the said
Code, title "Washington County", sub-title "Circuit Court",
sub-heading "Court Stenographer", as said Sections 110 and
111 were amended by Chapter 400 of the Acts of 1943, be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

73. (67) (110) The Judges of the Fourth Judicial Circuit
of Maryland, are hereby authorized and directed to appoint
two official Court Stenographers, one for the Circuit Court
for Washington County, and one for the Circuit Court for
Allegany and Garrett Counties, who shall be sworn officers
of the courts of said circuit. And the said Court Stenog-
rapher so appointed for the Circuit Court for Washington
County shall receive such salary as the said Judges of the
Fourth Judicial Circuit may authorize in writing to be paid
him by the County Commissioners of Washington County in
regular monthly installments. And the said Court Stenog-
rapher so appointed for the Circuit Court for Allegany and
Garrett Counties shall receive such salary as the said Judges
of the Fourth Judicial Circuit may authorize in writing to
be paid him by the County Commissioners of Allegany and
Garrett Counties respectively in regular monthly install-
ments from the effective date of this Act.

74. (68) The County Commissioners of Allegany County
shall levy and pay to the said Court Stenographer so ap-
pointed for the Circuit Courts for Allegany and Garrett
Counties such salary as the said Judges of the Fourth Judi-
cial Circuit may authorize in writing in monthly installments
on or before the 10th day of each month as long as said
Court Stenographer is performing the official duties herein
provided for, or until said County Commissioners are noti-
fied by the Judges of said Circuit, to the contrary. The Coun-
