Dollars per year, and salaries of deputies and other expenses
of his office as may be approved by the said Commissioners,
and for the feeding and care of prisoners, shall be paid over
by the said Sheriff to the said County Commissioners, to be
used for County purposes; and the said County Commis-
sioners shall have the right at any time to examine and audit
the books and accounts of the said Sheriff.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law, and necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public health and safety, and hav-
ing been passed by a yea and may vote, supported by three-fifths
of all members elected to each of the two Houses of the Gen-
eral Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of
its passage.

CHAPTER 24.
(House Bill 142)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
536 of Article 21 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Talbot County", sub-title
"Trappe", as said section was amended by Chapter 17 of
the Acts of 1935, authorizing an increase in the tax rate
of the Town of Trappe and the amount which said Town may
borrow.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 536 of Article 21 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Talbot Coun-
ty", sub-title "Trappe", as said section wag amended by Chap-
ter 17 of the Acts of 1935, be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
536. They may levy a tax upon all the taxable property
within the Town for all corporate purposes, but the sum
so levied shall in no case exceed the sum of Seventy-five Cents
(75c) in every hundred dollars of the assessable property
within the limits of said Town of Trappe as may be necessary,
in their judgment, for the purpose of defraying the expenses
of said Town, and they are also authorized to borrow on the
faith and credit of said Town any sum of money, not exceed-
ing Seventy-five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00), which they may
