and imprisonment.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, under
changed section number, Section 81G of Article 48A of the
Annotated Code of Maryland, (1939 Edition) as enacted by
Chapter 895 of the Acts of 1945, title "Insurance", sub-title
"Agents and Brokers", denning the terms "General Agents",
"Agents and Solicitor", and their respective duties and
powers.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 81G of Article 48A of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition) as enacted by Chapter 895 of
the Acts of 1945, title "Insurance", sub-title "Agents and
Brokers", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, under a changed section number and to
read as follows:
82. (General Agents, Agents and Solicitors Denned.)
(a) A general agent is hereby defined to be an individual
acting under written authority from any insurance company
to solicit insurane, to collect premiums therefor, and if so
authorized by the company, to supervise and appoint agents
and solicitors, inspect risks and otherwise transact business
for and as a representative of such insurance company, and
in the case of companies other than life insurance companies,
to write and countersign policies.
(b) An agent, other than a life insurance agent, is hereby
defined to be an individual acting under written authority
from any insurance company to solicit insurance and write
and countersign policies of insurance and collect premiums
therefor, and if so authorized by the company, to appoint
and remove solicitors for any company for which he is li-
censed as agent, to report to and act through him.
(c) A life insurance agent is hereby defined to be any
individual acting under written authority from a life in-
