repealed and a new Section 404 be and it is herey enacted
in lieu thereof, to read as follows:

404. (a) The County Commissioners of Harford County
may appoint such number of constables for the several elec-
tion districts of said county, as may in their discretion be
required, and shall provide therefor an annual salary, to be
fixed by said County Commissioners, in lieu of all fees in civil
and criminal cases. Nothing contained herein shall be con-
strued to require the appointment of any constables if in the
discretion of the County Commissioners none are required.

(b) In addition to the salaries provided for in Sub-section
(a) of this section, constables shall be paid by the County
Commissioners an allowance of Five Cents (5c) per mile
for each mile they may be required to travel in the perform-
ance of their official duties, provided, however, that there
shall be no such allowance for transportation where their
transportation is furnished without charge by the State,
County or other political sub-division.

SEC. 3. And 'be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 22.
(House Bill 120)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
524 of Article 21 of the Code of PubliC Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Talbot County", sub-title
"Trappe", and to add a new section to said Article, to be
known as Section 524A and to follow immediately after
Section 524 of said Article, relating to the qualification
and registration of voters in the town of Trappe.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 524 of Article 21 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Talbot Coun-
ty", sub-title "Trappe", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, and that a new section be and
it is hereby added to said Article, said new section to be
known as Section 524A, to follow immediately after Section
524 of said Article, and all to read as follows:
