CHAPTER 170.
(Senate Bill 190)

AN ACT to repeal Section 447 of Article 4 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City
Charter (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-
title "Criminal Court of Baltimore", said section relating
to allowances to the State's Attorney of Baltimore City
for criminal cases removed from the City for trial.

WHEREAS, the State's Attorney is now on a salary basis
and there is no longer need for this section; therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 447 of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1938
Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Criminal Court
of Baltimore", be and it is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 171.
(Senate Bill 191)

AN ACT to add a new sub-title and new section to Article
41 of the Code of Public General Laws (1939 Ed. and
1943 Supp.), title "Governor—Executive and Administra-
tive Departments", said new sub-title to be "Department
of Public Improvements", and said new section to be
Section. 177, both to follow immediately after Section
176 of said Article, and to amend Article 78A of said
Code of Public General Laws, title "Public Works—
Board of" by. changing the title of said Article to "Public
Works", by inserting a sub-title "Board of Public
Works" immediately prior to Section 1 of said Article,
and by adding a new sub-title "Department of Public
Improvements", and eight new Sections to be Sections
8C to 8J of said Article, said new sub-title and new sec-
tions to follow immediately after Section 8B of said
Article, relating to establishment of a Department of
Public Improvements, the creation of the office of Chief
