NO. 15.
(House Joint Resolution 17)
Approving Senate Joint Resolution No. 84 and House Joint
Resolution No. 150, recently introduced in the Congress of
the United States.
WHEREAS, the residence of Francis Scott Key, formerly in
the State of Maryland, and now in the District of Columbia,
is recognized as one of the most prominent historic landmarks
of this Country, having been the home of the author of "The
Star Spangled Banner", at the time it was written; and
WHEREAS, the Columbia Historical Society, of the District
of Columbia, has undertaken to have the residence fully re-
stored as a patriotic shrine to be an inspiration to future
generations; and
WHEREAS, the project has been approved by the National
Commission of Fine Arts and the National Park and Planning
Commission; and
WHEREAS, on March 10, 1947, Senator Taft, for himself and
Senator Tydings, introduced Senate Joint Resolution No. 84,
to provide for the restoration and preservation of the Francis
Scott Key Mansion and to establish the Francis Scott Key
National Monument; and on March 13, 1947, Representative
J. Glenn Beall, of Maryland, introduced, similarly, House
Joint Resolution No. 150 in the House of Representatives;
now therefore be it
Resolved, That the Senate and the House of Delegates of
the Maryland State Legislature in regular session assembled,
do hereby approve and commend the action above indicated.

A House Joint Resolution directing the Governor and the
Board of Public Works to reduce the budget for the next
biennium by at least $500,000 in each of the two fiscal
years of said biennium, under the provisions, and within
