Public General Laws and by their respective Public Local
Laws and such expenses as are provided for by law in this
Section or by law in the respective counties, the said
salaries and expenses to be paid for by Baltimore City and
the respective counties:
(a) The Sheriff of Allegany County shall receive an
annual salary of $3,000.
The Sheriff may appoint four (4) deputies at an annual
salary of $2400 each; one of said deputies shall be assigned
by the Sheriff to attend the Magistrate for Juvenile Causes
to execute his processes, orders and directions, and when
not so engaged, to perform such other duties as the Sheriff
may require. One of said deputies shall be designated by
the Sheriff to keep accurate books and records of his office
in addition to his regular and usual duties and for which
he shall be paid $180. per year.
(b) The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall receive
an annual salary of $3,000. He shall be allowed $5,300 per
year for deputies and clerical assistance.
(c) The Sheriff of Baltimore County shall receive an
annual salary of $4200. He shall appoint such Deputies
and at such compensation as may be approved by the
County Commissioners of said County and shall receive
such sum for necessary expenses as shall be authorized by
the County Commissioners of said County. The payment
of such compensation and expenses shall be made from the
general funds of Baltimore County, in the same manner
as other general county disbursements are made.
(d) The Sheriff of Calvert County shall receive an
annual salary of $3000. and $1800. for all expenses, which
may be increased or decreased in the discretion of the
County Commissioners.
(e) The Sheriff of Caroline County shall receive an
annual salary of $2200. He may appoint such deputies as
may be necessary for the enforcement of the duties of his
office and at such compensation as he shall fix, with the
approval of the County Commissioners as to number and
compensation.
(f) The Sheriff of Carroll County shall receive an
annual salary of $3000. and $2100. to cover all the
expenses of his office. He may appoint a chief deputy
sheriff who shall receive such compensation as may be
determined by the County Commissioners of said County.
