sion, be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
781. The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint,
in addition to the above . mentioned officers, a suitable and
qualified person as Chief of the Montgomery County Police,
at a salary the amount and method of paying which shall
be determined from time to time by the said Board of County
Commissioners, which shall be in lieu of the salary of Twen-
ty-five Hundred ($2,500.00) Dollars and expense allowance of
Four Hundred ($400.00) Dollars provided for by Chapter
9 of the Acts of 1935 and the Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars
increase in salary provided for by Chapter 57 of the Acts of
1937. Said Chief of Police shall have control and supervision
over the other members of the force, fix such duties, at such
hours, as said Chief of Police may think proper, subject,
however, at all times to sucb rules, orders and regulations
as the County Commissioners may from time to time pre-
scribe.
782. Of the police appointed pursuant to Section 780 of
this title, the County Commissioners of Montgomery County
in their discretion, are specifically authorized to designate
whenever the size of the Police Force of Montgomery County
shall warrant (a) four (4) as Captains, who shall be Station
Commanders, one (1) as Captain of Detectives of the Mont-
gomery County Police Force at salaries to be determined
from time to time by the said Commissioners of Montgomery
County, payable monthly, (b) three (3) as Lieutenants of the
Montgomery County Police Force at salaries to be deter-
mined from time to time by the said Commissioners of Mont-
gomery County, payable monthly, (c) four (4) as Sergeants
of the Montgomery County Police at salaries to be determined
from time to time by the said Commissioners of Montgomery
County, payable monthly, (d) eight (8) as Corporals and
five (5) as Detective Corporals of the Montgomery County
Police at salaries to be determined from time to time by the
said Commissioners of Montgomery County, payable monthly,
(e) thirteen (13) Patrolmen of the Montgomery County Po-
lice at salaries to be determined from time to time by the
said Commissioners of Montgomery County, payable monthly,
and one (1) Patrolman at a salary to be determined from
time to time by the said Commissioners of Montgomery
County, payable monthly, and six (6) Patrolmen at salaries
to be determined from time to time by the said Commissioners
of Montgomery County, payable monthly, and the remaining
officers as Patrolmen at salaries to be determined from time
