SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 227 of Article 22 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub-title "Hagerstown", as amended by Chapter 267
of the Acts of 1945, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
227. The inhabitants of Hagerstown, in Washington County,
are created a corporation by the name of "The Mayor and
Council of Hagerstown", and by that name shall have per-
petual succession, may sue and be sued, may have and use a
common seal, and possess such other incidents and powers as
attach by law to a municipal corporation, and may acquire
by purchase, gift, condemnation proceedings, or in any other
lawful manner, real, personal and mixed property, and also
any rights or interests therein, which in the opinion of the
Mayor and Council it may be advisable to so acquire for
public use or municipal purposes, provided that any such con-
demnation proceedings shall be instituted under the general
laws of the State of Maryland, and may from time to time
dispose of any property, real, personal or mixed, or any rights
or interests therein, no longer needed for public purposes,
provided further, however, that said Mayor and Council shall
not expend for the acquisition of property for any one pur-
pose an amount in excess of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000).
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 690 and 691 of Article 3 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Baltimore County", sub-title "St. Denis", relating to
the village of St. Denis and a special levy therein.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 690 and 691 of Article 3 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Balti-
more County", sub-title "St. Denis", be and the same are
hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.
