and required to serve all civil process issued by said magis-
trates.

There shall be appointed biennially by each of said Trial
Magistrates a Clerk for his Court who shall keep all dockets
of and supervise and manage the office of said Magistrate and
said Clerk shall perform such other duties as shall be properly
assigned to him by the said Trial Magistrate and he shall re-
ceive such salary as shall be fixed by the Board of
County Commissioners and such salaries shall be payable
by the County Commissioners of the said county in equal
monthly installments: the said Clerks before entering
upon their duties shall each give bond to the State of Mary-
land in the penalty of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) with
corporate surety satisfactory to said County Commissioners,
the premium of said bonds to be paid by the County Commis-
sioners of Montgomery County.

The Sheriff of Montgomery County is hereby authorized
and directed to appoint, with the consent of the Board of
County Commissioners, and from a list of qualified appli-
cants submitted by the Board of County Commissioners,,
three deputy sheriffs for said county, in addition to
those now provided by law. Each of said additional dep-
uty sheriffs so appointed shall be assigned by the said
Sheriff to duty in one of the three trial magistrate courts
aforesaid and, when so appointed and assigned, said deputy
sheriff shall be under the direction and supervision of the
Trial Magistrate to whom he is assigned, and shall serve any
civil process returnable before said Trial Magistrate, and per-
form such other and further duties in connection with said
courts as may be prescribed by said Trial Magistrate. Each
of said deputy sheriffs so assigned to said trial magistrates
courts shall receive an annual salary of Fifteen Hundred
Dollars ($1,500.00) payable by the County Commissioners of
the said county in equal monthly instalments, and, in addi-
tion, each of the three aforesaid deputy sheriffs shall be paid
by the County Commissioners an annual sum of Three Hun-
dred Dollars ($300.00) in equal monthly instalments as com-
pensation for transportation expenses in performing their
duties.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, Th'at any and all other
laws or parts of laws, whether general or local, inconsistent
with the provisions of this Act, be and the same are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
