2 of the Acts of 1943, Chapter 966, from the date of his 70th
birthday.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-filths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
943B of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edition), title
"Baltimore City", sub-title "Special Fund", as said Section
943B was amended by Chapter 884 of the Acts of 1945,
relating to the basis for computing pensions for widows or
minor children of certain deceased members of the Police
Department of Baltimore City.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 943B of Article 4 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1938
Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Special Fund", as
said Section 943B was amended by Chapter 884 of the Acts
of 1945, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
943B. Members of the Police Department of Baltimore City
who may be appointed after June 1st, 1939, and become mem-
bers of the Special Fund, may participate in the benefits of
the Special Fund for Widows, provided eligibility to do so is
established within thirty (30) days after appointment and not
otherwise.
In the event a widow, to whom a pension allowance would
be paid in accordance with the provisions of Section 943A, is
appointed to any position in the Police Department of Balti-
more City, the pension allowance shall be suspended during
the period of employment, and if such member is retired on a
pension, the provisions of Sections 943A and 943B shall not
be applicable.
