otherwise provided, shall conform as nearly as may be possi-
ble to the proceedings for the registration of voters and the
maintenance of registration lists under the general election
laws of this State, and the Commissioners shall have the
power and are hereby directed to pass and enact such ordi-
nances, consistent with law, as said Commissioners may
deem proper for carrying into execution the provisions of
this section.
The said Judges of Election shall attend at the times and
places of registration and register all qualified persons who
present themselves. The said Judges shall have power to
administer oaths to all applicants for registration, and any
person who swears falsely before any of said Judges shall
be guilty of the crime of perjury and subject to the penal-
ties provided by the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland
for such offenses.
SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That biennially, after
due notice printed in some county newspaper having general
circulation in the Town and by posters prominently dis-
played .in each district, the Supervisors of Election shall
appoint two (2) clerks from each District of said Town
who shall receive $5.00 each for each and every day they
may be required to serve, and conduct an election by ballot
on the first Monday of May, if not a legal holiday, and
if a legal holiday, then on the following day, for the
election of the officers provided for in this Charter. The
polls shall be open between the hours of one and nine
P. M. The Judges of Election shall prepare ballots contain-
ing the names of those persons eligible to become candidates
for office and designating the offices they seek and, except as
otherwise provided herein, conduct elections under this
Charter as nearly as is practicable as is now, or hereafter
may be, provided for the election of officers for Prince
George's County under the General Election Laws. The
Supervisors of Election shall certify the vote to the Com-
missioners within forty-eight (48) hours and deliver the
ballot boxes with the ballots sealed therein to the Clerk of
the Town.
The Commissioners shall receive all returns of election and
determine all cases arising thereunder, except as otherwise
may be provided, and any voter who feels that he has been
aggrieved by any ruling as to the eligibility of his right to
vote may file an appeal to the Circuit Court for Prince
George's County and the same shall be determined by said
Court.
