so retired to perform such police duties, and at such times
as the Police Commissioner shall deem proper, said terms of
service not to exceed seven days during any year, and for
such services no extra compensation shall be allowed by said
Commissioner; and the said Police Commissioner shall have
the power, in his discretion, to suspend payment to any such
officer of police, policeman, detective, clerk or turnkey for a
term not to exceed three months for the first offense; for the
second offense for a term not to exceed six months, and for
the third offense any such officer of police, policeman, detec-
tive, clerk or turnkey shall be subject to dismissal, upon
proof that the said officer of police, policeman, detective,
clerk or turnkey is living an improper or immoral life.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 704.
(House Bill 90)

AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 471 of Article
43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition),
title "Health", sub-title "Hairdressers and Beauty Cultur-
ists", said new sub-section to be known as Sub-section (1)
and to follow immediately after Sub-section (k) of said
section, and to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 474, 478, 483, 489, 490 and 495 of said Article, amend-
ing the law relating to hairdressers and beauty culturists
generally.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added to
Section 471 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Hairdressers and
Beauty Culturists", said new sub-section to be known as
Sub-section (1) and to follow immediately after Sub-sec-
tion (k) of said section, and that Sections 474, 478, 483,
489, 490 and 495 of said Article 43 be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

471.

(1) "Electrologist" shall mean any person licensed to
remove surplus hair by means of specially designed electric
needles.
