SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the County
Commissioners of Calvert County are hereby authorized
and directed to levy annually until all of said notes have
been paid a sufficient sum to pay the interest on said
notes and to redeem said notes as they become due, from
time to time.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1947.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 56-A of Article 1-A of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "City of Cum-
berland," sub-title "Taxes," as said section was amended
by Chapter 454 of the Acts of 1945 increasing the special
tax to be levied upon taxable property of Cumberland,
Maryland, and increasing the special payments or bonus
for officers and certain employees of the City of Cum-
berland, and to continue the same until April 1st, 1949.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted ty the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 56-A of Article 1-A of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title, "City of
Cumberland," sub-title, "Taxes," as said section was amen-
ded by Chapter 454 of the Acts of 1945, be and the same is
hereby repealed, and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
56-A. In addition to the taxes authorized by Section
56 of Chapter 96 of the Acts of 1922, the Mayor and City
Council of Cumberland shall be and is hereby authorized
and directed to levy a special tax for each fiscal year be-
ginning April 1, 1945, and continuing until April 1, 1949,
said special tax not to exceed the sum of fifteen ($.15) cents
on each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars worth of assess-
able property within the limits of the City of Cumberland,
and shall expend the proceeds derived from the levy and
collection of said special tax, first, to the payment of wages
and salaries of all general city employees and officers, with
the exception of casual or temporary employees, and mem-
