said 1948 primary and general elections in said County,
prior to the holding of said primary and general election,
and to thereafter provide voting machines for all polling
places in all subsequent primary and general elections in said
County, and it shall be the duty of the County Commis-
sioners of said Allegany County to provide the funds nec-
essary to enable said Board of Supervisors of Elections to
purchase such voting machines. Said Board of Supervisors
of Elections shall have power to determine the number and
location of all the polling places in said County and said
voting machines shall be used in all said polling places.
In the precincts in which voting machines are used, the
conduct of all elections, general, primary or special, shall
be as hereinafter provided in Sections 81 to 91, inclusive,
of this Article, instead of as provided in Sections 66 to 76.
inclusive, except as specifically therein stated; provided,
however, that in the event that the number of names or
the nuumber of questions submitted for vote at any elec-
tion is too large for the practical use of voting machines,
the said Board of Supervisors of Elections shall supply
paper ballots in the usual form for use in voting for such
excess offices and questions as they shall deem advisable.
The Supervisors of Elections shall have the power to
rent or lease any of said voting machines to any city or
town in Allegany County for use in municipal elections
upon such terms and conditions as they shall determine and
every incorporated town and city in Allegany County is
hereby authorized and empowered to rent or lease said
voting machines and to use the same in the municipal elec-
tions in said town or city any law, charter provision or
ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding.

The County Commissioners of Allegany County shall
appoint a Custodian of voting machines and a Deputy
Custodian whose duty it shall be to prepare the machines
to be used in the elections to be held in said County, and
the Deputy Custodians appointed by said Commissioners
shall belong to the other leading party from that to which
the Custodian shall belong. Such Custodian and Deputy
Custodian shall, under the direction of the Board of Super-
visors of Elections of Allegany County have charge and
represent the said Board during the preparation of the
said voting machines, and perform such other duties as
may be prescribed, from time to time, by the said Board
of Supervisors of Elections. The Custodian and Deputy
Custodian shall each be paid the sum of $10.00 per diem
for each day they are engaged in the preparation, repair
or maintenance of said voting machines and they shall
