clothed with all the powers of peace officers and shall
perform such clerical or other work for the officer or of-
ficers so appointed, within any designated locality or lo-
calities, as the case may be; said County Commissioners
shall also have the power to levy annually a sufficient sum
upon the taxable property within any designated locality or
localities, as the case may be, to pay said clerk or clerks,
as they in their discretion deem reasonable and proper.
235. The said County Commissioners may at anytime
remove, dismiss or discharge any officer or clerk from
police service for any offense against law or good morals,
for neglect of duty, inefficiency or breach of discipline.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall
take effect June 1, 1947.

(Senate Bill 421)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
17 of Article 88B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "State Police", relating to the pay-
ment of lodging and subsistence for the Superintendent
and employees of the Department of State Police.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 17 of Article 88B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "State Police," be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
17. The superintendent shall have authority to approve
vouchers in payment of expenses incurred by employees
of the Department in the discharge of their duties, and
such vouchers shall be audited and paid out of the appro-
priations of the Department in the manner required by
law. Allowance for lodging and subsistance while away
from official station may be paid to the Superintendent or
any employee of the Department under such terms and
conditions as the Superintendent may prescribe, provided,
however, that the allowance for lodging and subsistence
paid to the Superintendent be approved by the Board of
