Public Works. The Superintendent may provide lodging
and subsistence for employees of the Department at their
official stations.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 668.
(Senate Bill 425)
AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of How-
ard County, in their discretion, to borrow Five Hundred
Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00) upon the faith and credit
of said Howard County for the construction and equip-
ping of an elementary school for white children at Elk-
ridge and an elementary and high school for colored
children within Howard County and to issue bonds
therefor and to levy taxes to pay the principal and
interest of such bonds.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the County Commissioners of Howard County be and
they are hereby authorized and empowered, in their dis-
cretion, to issue at one time, or from time to time, upon
the faith and credit of said County, bonds in an amount
or amounts not exceeding in the aggregate Five Hundred
Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00) for the purpose of con-
structing and equipping an elementary school for white
children at Elkridge in said Howard County and an elemen-
tary and high school for colored children within said
County, and the acquisition of lands necessary therefor.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the County
Commissioners of Howard County shall, when they exer-
cise said discretion, by resolution, prescribe the form and
tenor of such bonds, the rate of interest to be charged
thereon, not exceeding, however, three per centum (3%)
per annum; the date of issue and the time and place such
interest is to be paid. Such bonds shall be in coupon form
and shall be in denominations of One Thousand Dollars
($1000.00). Such bonds shall be issued upon the serial
maturity plan in such manner as the County Commis-
sioners may by resolution prescribe.
