the said Chapter — of the Acts of 1947; said Act author-
izing the sale of beer and wines within certain hours
on Sundays in Harford County, a special Sunday license
to be issued by the Liquor Control Board for Harford
County; and providing for a referendum thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 421H of Article 13 of the Public Local Laws
of Maryland (Higinbotham's Code 1942, Section 424), title
"Harford County", sub-title "Liquors and Intoxicating
Drinks", be and it is hereby repealed and a new section
be added to Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
to be known as Section 5 1/2; provided that if Senate Bill
No. 98 of the 1947 Session becomes effective, then Section
89 "Harford County" of the resulting Chapter — of the
Acts of 1947, be and it is hereby repealed and the word
"Harford" shall be deleted from Section 82 (b) (2) of
the said Chapter — and a new section to said Article 2B
as amended by Chapter — of the Acts of 1947 is hereby
enacted, to be known as Section 89 "Harford County";
and to read as follows:
89. Harford County. In Harford County, notwith-
standing any other provision of this sub-title, licensees
under this Article shall only sell, offer for sale or dispense
the beverages defined in this Article between the hours of
8 o'clock A. M. and 1 o'clock A. M., except on Saturday,
when the closing hour shall be Midnight on week days and
12 noon and 8 P. M. on Sundays, and shall not sell such
beverages during any other hours. Nor shall licensees
conduct nor permit dancing on Sunday. No beer or light
wines shall be permitted to be drunk on the premises of
a licensee after fifteen (15) minutes following the closing
hours prescribed in this section. Provided further that
no licensee shall sell or offer for sale or dispense beverages
defined in this Article at any time on Sunday until he shall
have first obtained from the Liquor Control Board of
Harford County, a special license to be known as "Sunday
Beer and Wine Licenses", for which license he shall pay
the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100) per annum; and
provided further that the said Liquor Control Board of
Harford County shall prescribe such regulations as they
deem necessary and proper governing the issuance, sus-
pension and revocation of said Sunday licenses. And pro-
vided further that no such Sunday licenses shall be issued
by said Liquor Control Board unless and until a majority
of the voters of Harford County have indicated their
choice in favor of Sunday beer sales, according to the pro-
