1340 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 553

of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Frederick County," sub-title "Thurmont,"
said new section to be known as Section 783A, to follow
immediately after Section 783 of said Article, and to read
as follows:

783A. (a) The Commissioners of Thurmont shall have
the power, by ordinance, to adopt a building code to
gqvern and control the erection and repair of buildings
within the corporate limits of the town of Thurmont and
to prescribe penalties for the violation of said code.

(b) The said Commissioners shall also have the power,
by ordinance, to adopt a zoning code to govern the use
of buildings for residential, commercial and industrial
purposes and to prescribe penalties for the violation there-
of. The said Commissioners shall also have and exercise
the powers as to zoning granted by Article 66B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), and amend-
ments thereto.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 553.
(Senate Bill 335)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
15 of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett County", sub-
title "Accident", relating to the tax rate in the town of
Accident.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 15 of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett County",
sub-title "Accident", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments to read as follows:

15. The said council may annually levy upon the assess-
able property within said town by direct tax not exceeding
seventy cents on the one hundred dollars such sum as it
may deem necessary for the purpose of defraying and
settling the expenses incurred by it on behalf of said
corporation.
