WM. PRESTON LANE, JR., GOVERNOR. 1043

"Work—Hours of, In Factories", said new section to be
known as Section 78, to be under the sub-title "State
Employees", to follow immediately after Section 77 of
said Article, as said Section 77 was enacted by Chapter
1015 of the Acts of 1945, and to read as follows:

78. Every State employee shall be entitled to observe,
with pay, all legal holidays of the State of Maryland, as
designated in Section 9 of Article 13 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition) ; except, however, when any
State employee may be required to work on any of said
designated holidays, said employee shall be allowed compen-
satory time off on some other day, or in the alternative,
shall be paid overtime compensation for such time worked
on any of said designated holidays.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or
parts of laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act
be and they are hereby repealed, to the extent of such
inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 511.
(Senate Bill 188)

AN ACT to repeal Section 441 of Article 4 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City
Charter (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-
title "Criminal Court of Baltimore", said section relat-
ing to presentments by the Grand Jury of Baltimore
City.

WHEREAS, the provisions of Section 441 require the
Grand Jury to endorse on the presentment the name of
the person at whose instance such presentment is made,
and who shall be deemed to be the person at whose instance
such prosecution was commenced; and

WHEREAS, this procedure is not followed at the present
time and is considered to be unnecessary; therefore
