The Hon. R. C. Hollyday, Secretary of State, appeared
and delivered a message from his Excellency, the Gov-
ernor.

Which was read.

[See Document A. ]

On motion by Mr. Gorman, it was

Ordered, That a Committee of three be appointed to dis-
tribute to the various Committees (when appointed) the
several recommendations made by his Excellency, the Gov-
ernor, in his message just read.

The President appointed as such Committee, Messrs. Gor-
man, Combs, of St. Mary's, and Franklin.

On motion by Mr. Joyce, it was

Ordered, That the Postmaster of the Senate be, and he
is hereby, required to furnish to each Senator the same
amount of postage stamps furnished at the last Session of the
Senate, and that the same amount be allowed to the Secre-
tary, and that the Secretary have this order forthwith handed
to the Postmaster.

Upon motion by Mr. Bannon,
The Senate adjourned until to-morrow at 12 o'clock

FRIDAY, January 4th, 1878.
Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Present at roll call the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Bannon, Combs, of Allegany, Combs,
of St. Mary's, Cooper, Dennis, Ford, Franklin, Freeman,
Garey, Gorman, Humphreys, Hill, Hepbron, Joyce, Lee,
Lancaster, McLane, Miller, Newcomer, Peter, Steiner,
Sulivane, Stump, Welfley, Wilson—22.

Proceedings of yesterday read and approved.
