In line 14, page 4, insert after word "to," "the Colored
Normal School, and the balance for white schools, the State
Normal Schools for whites and."

Insert under head of "Eeformatory and other Institu-
tions," a section to read as follows :

"To the Maryland Penitentiary, for the support of the
Institution, twenty thousand dollars, or so much thereof as
may be necessary."

"Provided, however, and it is hereby directed, that the
Directors of the said Maryland Penitentiary, and the Warden
thereof, shall not receive into said Penitentiary any person
sentenced to imprisonment by any Court of any other State,
or by any Court of the United States, other than the Courts
of the United States for the District of Maryland, and shall
in all contracts to be made hereafter for the employment of
the convicts in said Penitentiary, and in the sale of the manu-
factures of the said institution, provided, goods so manufac-
tured, whether under said contracts, or for sale, shall be sold
beyond the limits of this State.

"To the Maryland Institute for the Instruction of the
Blind, as per Act of eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, Chap-
ter two hundred and five, fifteen thousand dollars. To the
Board of Directors of the Maryland Institution for the In-
struction of the Blind, tor the education of deaf and dumb
and blind colored children of this State, eight thousand five
hundred dollars; provided, the said institution shall be re-
moved from its present site on Broadway. To the Lying-in
Hospital for indigent women, three thousand dollars ; to the
House of Refuge, fifteen thousand dollars ; to the House of
Reformation and Instruction for Colored Children, six thou-
sand dollars; to the Maryland Institute for the promotion of
the Mechanic Arts, as provided by Act of eighteen hundred
and sixty-eight, Chapter one hundred and ninety-eight, and
the proposed extension of its charter, three thousand dollars;
to the Managers of the Maryland Hospital for the Insane,
fifteen thousand dollars ; to the State House of Correction,
thirty thousand dollars for the support of the institution; and
to two watchmen for the State House of Correction, seven
hundred dollars each, fourteen hundred dollars."

Which were adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time.
Mr Lee, from the Committee on Inspections, reported
favorably,

Senate bill to repeal Sections 1, 5 and 13, of Chapter 36,
Acts of 1872, and to re-enact the same with amendments.
