of the City of Baltimore, who was a soldier of the war of
1812, from the State of Maryland, an annual pension of
eighty dollars during his natural life.
On motion by Mr. McLane,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Agriculture to
introduce a bill to be entitled an Act for the prevention of
cruelty to animals in the State of Maryland.
On motion by Mr. Gorman,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act to make effectual the pro-
visions made by the Act of December Session, 1844, Chapter
281, entitled "An Act to provide for the completion of the
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal to Cumberland, and for other
purposes, " in so far as said Act relates to putting and keep-
ing the said Chesapeake and Ohio Canal in good condition
and repair, and to make the said Canal an effective means of
transportation.
On motion by Mr. Miller,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to be entitled "An Act relating to
the incarceration in jail of State witnesses. "
On motion by Mr. Dennis,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to repeal and
re-enact Section 9, of Chapter 151, of the Acts of 1872, en-
titled an Act to incorporate the town of Crisfield, in Somerset
County.
On motion by Mr. Stump,
Leave was granted to Senators Stump, Dennis and Hum-
phreys to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to add a new
Article to the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Life
Insurance, " prohibiting Life Insurance Companies doing
business in this State from contesting the payment of losses
under policies issued after the receipt of payment of premiums
for two years.
Mr. Dennis, from the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings, reported favorably,
Senate Joint Resolutions extending the term of service of
Hon. George W. Dobbin, Associate Judge of the Supreme
Bench, of Baltimore City.
