Which was read and referred to the Baltimore City Sena-
tors.

Mr. Humphreys presented the petition of W. W. Disha-
roon and 151 others asking the repeal of the Act of 1874,
changing the voting place of the 7th Election District of
Wicomico County.

Which was read and referred to Senators Humphreys,
Dennis and Franklin.

Mr. McLane presented the petition of Robert Gorsuch
praying for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Mr. McLane presented the following communication from
the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

BALTIMORE, January 14 h, 1878.
To the Honorable,

The General Assembly of Maryland:

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (long
since organized under the laws of this State), beg leave re-
spectfully to solicit the passage by your Honorable Body of
the accompanying bill, entitled "An Act for the Prevention
of Cruelty to Animals in the State of Maryland. "

So far as your Memorialist is aware, this is the only
State wherein cruelty to our dumb animals is not punished
under its laws, and your Memorialist trusts that the bill to be
presented by one of your Honorable Members (under leave so
to do), will be enacted into law during your present session.

ture.

On motion by Mr. McLane,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to intro-
