the Honorable James Black Groome that he has this day
been duly elected to represent this State in the United States
Senate for six years, from and after the 4th day of March, 1879,
and concur therein.

We have appointed on the part of the Senate Messrs,
Peter and Sulivane.

Which was read, assented to and sent to the House of
Delegates.

On motion by Mr. Bannon,
The Senate at 12. 45 P. M, adjourned.

TUESDAY, January 22nd, 1878,
Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. L. D. Travers.
Present at roll call the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Bannon, Dennis, Ford, Franklin, Free-
man, Gorman, Hepbron, Hill, Humphreys, Joyce, Lancaster,
Lee, Mc-Lane, Miller, Steiner, Stump, Sulivane. —17.

The proceedings of Friday were read and approved.

The President presented to the Senate the following com-
munication from the Board of Commissioners of the Depart-
ment of Police of Baltimore City.

Baltimore, January 22nd, 1878.

To the Honorable, the President of the Senate:

Sir: —The Board of Commissioners of the Department of
