tise for proposals for repairs of the old jail and the erection

of the new, and award the erection and repairs to the lowest
bidder, if, in their judgment, they deem the same expedient,
provided the erection and repair and all expenses incident to
such repair and addition shall not exceed the sum of five
thousand dollars."

Amend by striking out "Section 3," and insert in lieu
thereof the following :

"Section 3. And be it enacted, That the County Commis-
sioners before accepting any bid for the erection of the new
addition and repairs of the old jail, shall require the bidder
to enter into a good bond in the sum of ten thousand dollars
for the faithful performance of said repairs and the erection.

7th line, and insert "five" in lieu thereof.

Mr. Freeman, from the Committee on Temperance, report-
ed favorably the following bills :

House bill entitled an Act to prohibit the sale of spirituous
or fermented liquors, or lager beer in the town of Laurel,
Prince George's County, Maryland, and at any place in
Prince George's County, Maryland, within three miles of the
present site of the office of the Commissioners of Laurel.

House bill entitled an Act to prohibit the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Frederick County from issuing license to
venders of spirituous, vinous or malt liquors within the limits
of Mechanicstown Election District, No. 15, in Frederick
County.

Which were read the second time, and referred to the
Committee on Finance.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 5, of Article 64,
of the Code of Public General Laws entitled "Mortgages,"
and to re-enact the same with amendments,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.
