We have lived by it for two hundred years, and are full
believers in its efficacy in all cases of dispute, local or inter-
national, and this meeting now looks with feelings of great
satisfaction upon the effort making in your Honorable Bodies
to accomplish this great and good work, and we earnestly
trust, that the hands of those who are laboring in the cause
may be strengthened, and that the necessary legislation, as
proposed, may be accomplished, and arbitration become en-
grafted upon the statutes of our State.

On motion by Mr. Freeman,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act to more effectually guard
the Treasury of the State against fraud in the matter of the
payment of pensions to soldiers of the war of 1812, and
widows of deceased soldiers.
On motion by Mr. Freeman,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act, placing on the pension roll
the names of certain soldiers of the war of 1812, and widows
of deceased soldiers.
On motion by Mr. Ford,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to incorporate the Cen-
treville Bank.
On motion by Mr. Sulivane,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to repeal and re-
enact with amendments Section 42, of Article 37, of the Code
of Public General Laws, title "Evidence," sub-title "Proof
of Foreign Debts and other Instruments."
On motion by Mr. Sulivane,
Leave was granted to Senators Sulivane, Garey and Den-
nis, to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to authorize
William G. Noble and S. Frank Pool, to close up a certain
portion of the present public road dividing Dorchester and
