The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.
Mr. McLane presented the petition of members of the
Baltimore City Bar, praying that the term of office of Hon.
George W. Dobbin, one of the Judges of the Supreme
Bench of the City of Baltimore, be extended in pursuance of
the 3rd Section of the 4th Article of the Constitution.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.
On motion by Mr. Lee, it was
Ordered, That the Secretary of the Senate be, and he is
hereby, directed to procure for the use of the Senate two suita-
ble book-cases to receive the Codes, Laws and Journals belong-
ing to the Senate Library. The cost thereof not to exceed
the sum of thirty-five dollars.
Mr. Newcomer from a Select Committee, reported favorably,
House bill entitled an Act to repeal Chapter 274 of the
Acts of Assembly, passed at January Session, 1876, entitled
an Act to add additional sections to Article 21, of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Washington County, "
sub-title "County Commissioners, " to be known as Sections
87 A, 87 B, 87 O, 87 D, 87 E, 87 F, 87 G, 87 H,
87 I, 87 J, 87 K, 87 L, 87 M, N, 87 O, 87 P, 87 Q, 87 R,
87 S and 87 Z, and re-enact the same so as to read as follows.
Which was read the second time.
Mr. Dennis, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported favorably,
House bill entitled an Act authorizing the Mayor and City
Council of Cumberland to issue bonds to the amount of
$65, 000 to the Pennsylvania Railroad Company in Maryland,
and confirming an ordinance entitled an ordinance to aid the
introduction of the Pennsylvania Railroad into the City of
Cumberland, passed for said purpose by said Mayor and City
Council, November 21st, 1877, and approved by a vote of the
people of said City, December 15th, 1877.
