Whereupon, it appearing that no person had received a.
majority of all the votes cast, the Chairman declared that no
person had been elected by the Joint Convention as Senator
from Maryland, to the Congress of the United States.

On motion of Mr. Higgins,
At 12. 35, P. M., the Joint Convention adjourned.

At 12. 40, P. M., the Senators returned to the Senate
Chamber, and resumed Legislative business.

The Hon. R. C. Hollyday, Secretary of State, appeared
and delivered a communication from the Executive, en-
dorsed, "Executive business. "

On motion by Mr. Lee,

At 12. 40, P. M., the Senate went into Executive Ses-
sion.

At 12. 45, P. M., the Senate resumed the consideration of
Legislative business.

On motion by Mr. Lee,

At 12. 45, P. M., the Senate adjourned until to-morrow
morning at 11 o'clock.
