Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to intioduce a bill to be entitled an Act to repeal Section
45, of Article 51, of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled
"Justices of the Peace," sub-title "Supersedeas and Execu-
tion," and to re-enact the same with amendments.
On motion by Mr. Miller,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to repeal Section
16, of Article 29, of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Courts," and sub-title "Judgments," as amended by the
Act of the General Assembly of 1862, Chapter 262, and to
re-enact the same with amendments.
Mr. McLane, from the Committee on Finance, reported
favorably,
Senate bill entitled an Act to adjust and settle finally by
an agreement, all pending controverses between the Balti-
more and Ohio Railroad Company and the State of Maryland
by subjecting the franchises and property of said company
within this State to taxation for State purposes to a certain
extent, and by providing for the payment of a certain indebt-
edness of the said Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company to
the said State, and for the establishment by contract of cer-
tain rates of toll and transportation for coal, lumber, pig-
iron, ores of all kind and stone transported by the said
Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company to the basins of the
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, at or near Cumber-
land, and by providing on certain conditions, for the release
of the right of the State to any proportion of the monies
received by the said company for the transportation of passen-
gers on its railroad between Baltimore and Washington,
otherwise than by way of dividends upon its stock in the
Washington Branch Railroad of said company.
Which was read the first time, ordered to be printed,
and made the order of the day, for Tuesday, the 12th inst.,
at 1 o'clock.
