lishment of a free school of a high grade at each place.

Mr. Franklin presented the petition of J. T. Matthews,
and 26 others, citizens ol Worcester County, praying for an
amendment to the Public Local Laws for said county, so as
to prevent the shooting of wild fowl in the waters of said
county, between the first days of April and November in
each year.
Which was read, and referred to Senators Franklin, Mc-
Lane and Garey.
On motion by Mr. Lee, it was
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Senators
Bannon, Cooper, Stump and Combs, of St. Mary's, are ab-
sent from their seats in the Senate, engaged upon public
business.
On motion by Mr. McLane,
Leave was granted to Senators McLane, Dennis and
Franklin, to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to author-
ize the County Commissioners of Harford County, to estab-
lish and locate a public landing on the east side of Bush
River, in said county, at or near "the Sod."
On motion by Mr. Steiner,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations, to
introduce a bill to be entitled an Act supplementary to an Act
entitled an Act to incorporate the Isabella Gas Works, of
Frederick City, passed by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, at its January Session, 1853, Chapter 234, and also,
an Act supplementary to an Act entitled an Act to incorpo-
rate the Isabella Gas Works, of Frederick City, passed by
the General Assembly of Maryland, at its January Session,
1862, Chapter 69.
On motion by Mr. Franklin,
Leave was granted to Senators Franklin, Dennis and Mc-
Lane, to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to repeal Sec-
tions 9 and 10, of Chapter 424, of the Acts of 1868, entitled
an Act to incorporate the town of Berlin, in Worcester County,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Stump, to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to provide a
