On motion by Mr. Steiner, it was

Ordered, That the report of the Committee on the Senate
Rules be made the order of the day for Wednesday, 13th, at
1 o'clock.

On motion by Mr. Bannon,
The Senate at 3.20 P. M., adjourned.

THURSDAY, March 7th, 1878.

Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Kev. L. D. Travers.
Present at roll call the following Senators :

Messrs. Dennis, Ford, Franklin, Freeman, Garey, Gor-
man, Hepbron, Hill, Joyce, Lancaster, Lee, McLane,
Miller, Newcomer, Peter, Steiner, Sulivane, Welfley, Wil-
son—19.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF THE SENATE,

ANNAPOLIS, March 6th, 1878.

The following Senate bills having passed both Branches of
the General Asembly of Maryland, were this day presented
to the Governor for his approval.

AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY,

Secretary.

No. 61. An Act to repeal the 41st Section, of the 29th,
Article of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Courts,"
and to re-enact the same with amendments.

No. 62. An Act to provide for the payment of the salary
due the Secretary of the State Board of Health for the year
ending December 31st, 1878.

Mr. Welfley presented the petition of Samuel J. Beachy
and William K. Getty, and 20 others, citizens of Garrett
County, praying for an Act authorizing the County School
Board to divide the Academic Fund of said county equally
