illuminating purposes, and repealing the Acts enumerated
therein, and re-enact the same with amendments,
With the following proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out all after "a bill," and insert:
"Entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor and City Council,
of Baltimore, to provide for the inspection of oil, or fluids
made from petroleum, or its products, used for illuminating
purposes, offered for sale in the City of Baltimore, and for the
appointment of inspectors for that purpose.
"Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, be and
they are hereby authorized to provide for the inspection of
oil, or fluids, made from petroleum, or its products, used for
illuminating purposes offered for sale in the City of Balti-
more, and for the appointment of inspectors for that purpose.
"Section 2. And be it enacted, That the Mayor and City
Council shall have full authority to pass all ordinances ne-
cessary to carry into effect the powers granted by the preced-
ing section, and to impose, by said ordinances, such fines and
penalties as they may deem necessary and proper for the en-
forcement thereof.
"Section 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage."
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Sections 2, o, 6 and
7, of the Acts of 1876, Chapter 281, entitled an Act to pro-
vide for the regulation of the sale of spirituous and fermented
liquors or lager beer in Cecil Count, and to re-enact t he
same with amendments,
Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.
