FRID-AY, March 1st, 18T8. ;
Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. B. S. Highley.
Present at roll call the following Senators :

Messr«. President, Bannon, Combs, of Allegany, Combs,
of St. Mary's, Cooper, Dennis, Ford, Franklin, Freeman,
Garey, Gorman, Hepbron, Hill, Lee, McLane, Miller, New-
comer, Peter, Steiner, Stump, Sulivane, Welfley, Wilson
—23.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

Mr. McLane presented the petition of Pope, Cole & Co.,
and 70 other merchants of Baltimore City, in relation to the
inspection of steam boilers.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on In-
spections.

Mr. Garey presented the petition of A. J. Willis and 25
other citizens of Caroline County, praying for a Stock Law
in the Third Election District of said county.

Which was read, and referred to Senators Garey, Franklin
and Newcomer.

Also,

The petitions of James G. Ridden and 108 others, of Wil-
liam J. Clark and 39 others, and of Thomas A. Smith and
92 others, citizens of the Second and Third Election Districts
of Caroline County, and living within the prescribed lines,
as set forth in a petition presented by Mr. Garey, asking for
the proposed new district, that it be formed and made accord-
ing to the lines of said petition, and the voting place be at
Ridgeley.

Which were severally read, and referred to Senators Ga-
rey, Franklin and Hill.

Mr. Franklin presented the petition of Edward White and
22 other citizens of Worcester County, praying for an Act to
empower the County Commissioners of said county to revise
the last assessment.

Which was read, and referred to Senators Franklin, Den-
nis and Humphreys.
