Which was read, and refened to Senators Hill, Gorman
and Hepbron.

Mr. Lancaster presented the petition of Peter Trotter and
Townley Robey and 63 others, citizens of Charles County,
praying for an Act to enable the voters of this State, and
especially those of Charles County, to determine by ballot
whether intoxicating liquors shall be sold as a beverage.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Tem-
perance.

Mr. Bannon presented the petitions of sundry taxpayers,
and of every taxpaying member of the Upper Marlboro Bar
of Prince George's County, praying that in the event of the
repeal of the law allowing the Treasurer of said county 1 1/2
per cent, on the amount of taxes placed in his hands for col-
lection for Clerk hire, that the same be amended so as to
allow him a Clerk at a salary of $1,000 per year.

Which were read, and referred to Senators Hill, Gorman
and Hepbron.

Mr. Sulivane presented the petition of 31 citizens of Dor-
chester County for a change of dredging line in the Great
Choptank river, so that the same shall not include Jamaica
Shoals.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

On motion by Mr. McLane, it was

Ordered, That Senators and employees of the Senate are
entitled to mileage and twenty-five dollars of stationery or
its quivalent.

On motion by Mr. Cooper,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act for the relief of the widow
and children of the late Captain Andrew Conroy.

On motion by Mr. Hepbron,

Leave was granted to Senators Hepbron, Ford and Miller,
to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to regulate the width
of private reads in Kent County.

On motion by Mr. Gorman,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to amend the charter
and enlarge the powers of the Pennsylvania Railroad Com-
pany, a corporation incorporated under the General Laws of
this State.
