agitations and oppressions of one class of our tax-payers by
another, for all time to come.

N. B.—We append the following statistics taken from the
annual report of the Commissioners of Internal Revenue for
the fiscal year, ended June 30th, 1877.

Maryland.—Number of Rectifiers...................... 74

" " Retail Dealers............... 4,320

" " Wholesale Dealers......... 176

" " Breweries...................... 77

" " Distilleries......; ............ 12

" " Malt Liquor Dealers....... 65

Revenue derived during the months of July, August, Sep-
tember and October, 1877, $208,735.20, an average of
$52,183.80, each month.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Tem-
perance.

Mr. Sulivane presented the petition of 64 citizens of Cam-
bridge District, Dorchester County, for a new vote on Local
Option.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Tem-
perance.

Mr. Hepbron presented the petition of William H. War-
field and 12 others, citizens of Prince George's County,
praying that in the event of the repeal of the law allowing
the Treasurer of said county 1 1/2 per cent, for Clerk hire, that
the same may be amended so as to allow the Clerk $1,000
per annum.
