Mr. Sulivane submitted the following amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Inline 7, insert "three," instead of "five."
Which, was adopted.
Mr. Sulivane also submitted the following amendment :

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

In line 11, after "State," insert the words "Provided in no
case a reduction of more than fifty per cent, be allowed by the
Comptroller.'

Which was rejected by yeas and nays as follows :

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time, and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to prescribe and define the du"
ties of the Comptroller of the Treasury, relative to the ap-
portionment and distribution of the revenue derived from the
annual tax levied for the support of free public schools, and
to confirm the apportionments and distributions thereof here-
tofore made by that officer.

Being upon its second reading,

Mr. Stump moved that the further consideration of said bill
be postponed.

At 1:15 P. M.,

Mr. Bannon moved a call of the Senate.

The Sergeant-at-Arms was directed to notify absent Sena-
tors that their presence was required in the Senate Chamber.

On motien by Mr. Miller,
At 1.20 P.M.,
Further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.
