240 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 15,

House bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 9, of Article 11,
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, relating to "At-
torneys at Law," and to re-enact the following section in lieu
thereof.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Com-
mittee on Judicial Proceedings.

On motion by Mr. Peter,
At 2.10, P. M., the Senate adjourned.

FRIDAY, February 15th, 1878.
Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. J. H. Dashiell.
Present at roll call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Bannon, Combs, of Allegany, Cooper,
Dennis, Ford, Franklin, Freeman, Garey, Gorman, Hep-
bron, Hill, Lancaster, Lee, Miller, Newcomer, Peter, Steiner,
Stump, Sulivane, Welfley, Wilson—22.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

The Hon. R. C. Hollyday, Secretary ofState, appeared and
delivered a communication from the Executive, endorsed
"Executive Business."

Mr. Ford presented the petition of John B. Brown and 986
others, citizens of Queen Anne's County, praying for a law
submitting to the voters of said county the question whether
spirituous and fermented liquors shall be sold in said county.

Also,

The petitions of L. H. Porter and 15 others, and of C. T.
Wyatt and 113 others, citizens of Queen Anne's County,
against the passage of a Local Option Law.

Which were severally read, and referred to the Committee
on Temperance.

Mr. Lancaster presented the petitions of J. R. Perry and
12 others, of Benjamin G. Harris and 33 others, and of Syl-
vester Mudd and 27 others, citizens of Charles County, pray-
