ing for a law to enable the voters of this State, and especially
the voters of Charles County, to determine by ballot whether
or not intoxicating liquors shall be sold as a beverage.

Which were severally read, and referred to the Committee
on Temperance.

On motion by Mr. Miller, it was

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourns to-day, it stand
adjourned until Tuesday next, at 12 o'clock.

On motion by Mr. Ford,

Leave was granted to Senators Ford, Miller and Lee to in-
troduce a bill to be entitled an Act to enable the qualified
Yoters of Queen Anne's County to determine by ballot whether
spirituous or fermented liquors shall be sold in said county,
or in any election district thereof.

On motion by Mr. Hepbron,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act for the promotion of Agri-
culture and Mechanical and Household Arts in Kent,

Queen Anne's and Harford Counties.

On motion by Mr. Stump,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to repeal and

re-enact with amendments Section 5, of Article 37, of the
Code of Public General Laws of the State, relating to the
competency of witnesses.

On motion by Mr. Sulivane,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to repeal Section
11, of Article 51, of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Justices of the Peace," sub-title "Civil Jurisdiction," and
to re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion by Mr. Sulivane,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to ba entitled an Act to amend the
fifty-first Article, of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Justices of the Peace," sub-title "Civil Jurisdiction," by
adding a section thereto.

Mr. Combs, of Allegany, from the Committee on Corpora-
tions, reported favorably the following bills :

House bill entitled an Act to extend the charter of Frost-
burg Lodge No. 49, Independent Order of Odd Fellows,
