The petition of Judges Giles, Brown, Dobbin, Garey and
Inglis, and George M. Gill, I. Nevitt Steele, Charles Mar-
shall, John H. B. Latrobe, John S Morris and 88 other
lawyers of Baltimore City, praying for a General Local
Option Law.

Which were read, and referred to the Committee on Tem-
perance.

Mr. Stump presented the petition of Eabert Henry and 52
others, citizens of Harford County, praying that the Public
School Law may be amended, so as to provide for the election
of School Commissioners by the votes of the people.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

On motion by Mr. Peter,

Leave was granted to Senators Peter, Hill and Gorman to
introduce a bill, to be entitled an Act to repeal Section 55, of
Chapter 170, of the laws of Maryland, of 1870, Public Local
Laws,entitled "Montgomery County,"sub-title "Rockville,"
and to re-enact a section in lieu thereof.

The Hon. E. C. Hollyday, Secretary of State, appeared and
delivered a communication from the Executive, endorsed :
'Executive Business."

Also.

The report of the Advisory Board relative to Bulkhead and
Pier Head Lines, Baltimore Harbor.

Which was read, and,

On motion by Cooper,

Five hundred copies thereof were ordered to be printed.

On motion by Mr. Sulivane,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill, to be entitled an Act to repeal Chap-
ter 164, of the Acts passed at January Session, 1867, rela-
ting to payment of costs incurred before Justices of the Peace,
before appeal can be beard, and to re-enact the same with
amendments.

On motion by Mr. Miller,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill, to be entitled an Act to change the name of
the Principio Manufacturing Company.
