Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

Mr. Lancaster presented the petition of John M, Page and
25 others, citizens of Charles County, also the petition of W.
E. Rowe and 51 others, citizens of said county, also the peti-
tion of Robert Prout and 61 others, citizens of said county,
and also the petition of Washington Willis and 21 others,
citizens of said county, praying for a law to enable the voters
of said county to determine by ballot whether intoxicating
liquors shall be sold in said county.

Which were severally read, and referred to the Committee
on Temperance.

Also,

The petition of J. W. Waring and 19 others, citizens of
Charles County, praying that the Act of 1872, Chapter 244,
be amended, so as to require that all grain carried to Balti-
more for sale, in considerable quantities, shall be weighed by
the State Weigher.

Which was read, and referred to Senators Stump, Dennis,
Hill, Hepbron and Lee.

Also,

The petition of Winfield Halley and 11 others, citizens of
Charles County, praying that the charter of the Maryland
Agricultural College and Model Farm may be so altered that
the said institution may better carry out the object of its
founders.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Cooper presented the petition of Mrs. Eliza Harman,
praying to have her name restored on the pf nsion roll.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Dennis presented the petition of William Colbourn,
late Sheriff of Somerset County, for the repayment to him of
the amount of a tax paid a second time by him on his com-
missions as said Sheriff.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Stump presented the petition of W. S. Forwood and
50 others, citizens of Harford County, praying that the Pub-
lic School Law may be so amended, as to provide for the elec-
tion of the School Commissioners by the votes of the people.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.
