120 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 30,

Mr. Steiner, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to amend an Act passed at the
December Session of the year 1839, Chapter 303, entitled an
Act to incorporate the Junior Fire Company of Frederick
City, in Frederick County, and the supplements thereto, by
changing the name of said Company.

Which, was read the second time.

Mr. Freeman, from a Select Committee, reported favora-
bly,

House bill entitled an Act to authorize and direct the
County Commissioners of Baltimore County to levy a sum of
money to pay certain Assessors appointed under the Act of
1876, generally known as the ''Assessment Act. "

Which was read the second time.

Senate bill entitled an Act to remove all gates from the
public roads of Anne Arundel County,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal an Act of the General
Assembly of Maryland, of 1876, Chapter 62, entitled an Act
to prevent the increase of gates upon the public roads of Cal-
vert County,

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 138, of the
Acts passed at the January Session, 1874, Chapter 483, en-
titled an Act to repeal Article 81, of the Code of Public
General Laws of the State of Maryland, entitled "Revenue
and Taxes, " and to re-enact the same with amendments, and
to amend and re enact the said 138th Section,

Was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays as
fellows:
