The following communications, which had been received
from His Excellency, the Governor, by the hands of the Hon.
R. C. Hollyday, Secretary of State, were read.

STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, March 21st, 1878.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

I nominate Jas. Luther Elgin as Justice of the Peace for
the 11th district of Washington County.

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointment.

I nominate John Shultz as Justice of the Peace for the 9th
district of Frederick County, to fill the number the district is
entitled to.
