A bill entitled "An Act to add an additional section
to Article 45 of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, title 'Husband and Wife,' as the said Art-
icle was repealed and re-enacted by the Act of 1898,
chapter 457."

Which was read the first time and referred to the
Committee on the Judiciary.
By Mr. Harrison,

A bill entitled "An Act to add an additional section
to Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title 'Frederick County,' sub-title 'Justices
of the Peace and Constables.' to be known as 'Section
289 C,' regulating the compensation of the police
justice of the peace for Election District Number
Twelve, in Frederick county."

Which was read the first time and referred to the
Frederick delegation.

amendments section 2 of Article 85 of the Code of
Public General Laws, title 'Evidence,' sub-title 'Com-
petency of Witnesses,' as repealed and re-enacted by

Joint Resolution, Providing for a suitable inscrip-
tion to be placed on the pedestal of the bronze statue
on the State House Hill erected to Roger Brooke
Taney, Chief Justice of the United States.

Whereas, Roger Brooke Taney, a distinguished son
of Maryland, a profound lawyer and great statesman,
rendered distinguished public services to the State
and nation, having successively filled the offices of
Attorney-General of the State of Maryland, and At-
torney-General of the United States of America; and

Whereas, The said Roger Brooke Taney, was on the
