of Public Local Laws of the State of Maryland, title
'Montgomery County,' by adding thereto a new sec-
tion under the sub-title 'Electric Railroads,' and to be
numbered 220, fixing distances for which fares maybe
charged, and amount of fares.'

"Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Article 16 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Montgomery.County," be amended
by adding the following section under the sub title
'Electric Railroads,' to be numbered 222.

222. No electric railroad company operating its
cars in Montgomery county for a distance greater than
three miles shall establish upon its line or lines more
than one pay section, unless each pay section estab-
lished shall be at least three miles in length, exclusive
of switches, turnouts, extra tracks and double tracks.
The term "pay section" as herein used, is hereby de-
nned to mean the distance along the line of an elec-
tric railroad between two points fixed by the company
operating such line or lines for the collection of a fare
for the transportation of each passenger over the
whole or any part of such a line as may be located
between such points. And such electric railway com-
pany shall not be permitted to charge more than one
'fare of five cents for the transportation of each pas-
senger over the whole or any parr of each of such pay
sections of such lines. Any company violating any
of the requirements of this section shall be subject to
a fine of not less than one hundred dollars, nor more
than two hundred dollars for each and every offence,
to be recovered in any Court of competent jurisdiction
at the suit of the Board of County Commissioners of
said Montgomery county.

Section 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act
shall take effect from the date of its passage.
