Whereas, said corporation, prior to the year 1859
increased the number of persons composing the Board
of Government mentioned in its constitution or instru-
ment of incorporation, but said amendment was not
made known, acknowledged and recorded as directed
by said Act, therefore, for the purpose of curing said
omission and of further amending the charter of said
corporation.
Which was read the second time and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.
Mr. Johnston, from Committee on Corporations, re-
ported favorably,
House bill, File No. 83, entitled "An Act to provide
for separate accommodations of white and colored
passengers in the sitting, sleeping and eating apart-
ments of all steamboats plying in the waters within
the jurisdiction of the State of Maryland without any
difference in discrimination in the quality and con-
venience of accommodation."
Which was re-committed to the Judiciary Commit-
tee to be reported on not later than Monday, Febru-
ary 29, 1904.
Also favorably,
House bill, File No. 18, entitled "An Act to require
all railroad companies and corporations, and all per-
sons running or operating cars or coaches by steam on
any railroad line or track in the State of Maryland,
for the transportation of passengers, to provide
separate cars or coaches for white and colored passen-
gers, without any difference or discrimination in the
quality of, or accommodation in such cars or coaches."
Which was re-committed to the Judiciary Commit-
tee by yeas and nays, as follows, to be reported Feb-
ruary 29, 1904:
