land insert the words "twenty-eight of which after an
autopsy were found to be sound and were sold for a
beef."

Which was adopted.

In lines 4 and 5, page 2 of the printed bill strike
out the words $1,873.42" and insert in place thereof
the words six hundred and sixty eight dollars."

engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Benson, from Committee on Corporations, re-
ported favorably,

House bill, File No. 175, entitled "An Act to regulate
and levy a tax upon the gross receipts and earnings of
the electric railroad companies operating and doing
business in the city of Cumberland and Allegany
county, Maryland."

Which was read the second time, and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Johnston, from the Committee on Judiciary,
reported favorably,

House bill, File No. 48, entitled "An Act to require
all railroad companies and corporations, and all per-
sons running or operating cars or coaches by steam on
any railroad line or track in the counties of Somerset,
Wicomico, Dorchester, Talbot, Caroline, Worcester,
Queen Anne's and Kent, in the State of Maryland, for
the transportation of passengers, to provide separate
cars or coaches for white and colored passengers, with-
out any difference or discrimination in the quality of,
or convenience or accommodation in such cars and
coaches."

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Benson, from Committee on Corporations re-
ported favorably,

House bill, File No. 199, entitled "An Act to amend
the charter of the Home of the Friendless, a corpora-
tion, carrying on beneticient work in Baltimore city,
created under the Act of the General Assembly of
Maryland, passed at the January session, 1852, chap-
ter 231."
